As the wonderful world of OTT continues to thrive, more and more sports broadcasters are turning to online subscriptions and passes to cater to a new breed of consumers – and softball is no exception. Find out how a softball league went over-the-top and launched a geo-targeted streaming service.
The NPF (National Pro Fastpitch), America’s one and only professional women’s softball league, is running its second season with Cleeng, offering all the action through passes on NPFTV, the league’s dedicated and exclusive home for all 150 regular season games.
An official development partner of Major League Baseball since 2002, the NPF gives elite female athletes a platform from which to pursue a professional career in diamond sports that exceeds their collegiate success. And this year is set to be a big one…
Based on last year’s roaring success, more softball fans are engaging with NPFTV than ever, and for added excitement, this year is the first one that a Chinese team will be participating.
The team, Beijing Shougang, is managed by the Chinese Softball Association (CSA) and will consist of players currently in the national team pool for CSA, coupled with a select few American team members.
According to the league’s official press release:
“This move is an unprecedented and outstanding step forward for Chinese Softball and a groundbreaking experiment for the Chinese softball team.”
As mentioned, NPFTV will enjoy its second season with Cleeng and to give you a clearer picture of what the partnership looks like, here are a few key details…
Here are a couple of specifics from the solution implementation and how NPFTV finds value in Cleeng:
